They do. They lay the eggs for the caterpillars there too but the caterpillars don’t do too much damage, at least not this kind of butterfly. My Dutchman’s Pipe, another beautiful plant that I have out front, was gobbled up by brown caterpillars.
Oh no! Are those bag worms? We had those last year. I asked the gardener at Lowes and they said they were. But they are pretty! Do those turn into butterflies?
Wow JeanneMarie. These passion flowers pack a punch of beauty. I love them. Wow! I have never seen them up close. I need these flowers in my yard. Where do you have them planted in the full fun or sun/shad? Do they need a fence of something to climb? They are amazing and the butterflies they attract are all colors. Do you ever get hummingbirds as well?
They need something to climb. Right now mine has grown to cover three trellises. It will climb anything, it grabs on with little curly tendrils. It has climbed my porch screen now and up to the roof. I used to cut it back every month or so, which will give you more flowers, but I haven’t cut it for a while. I wanted to see just how big it would get! I have it where it gets morning sun and afternoon shade. I water a lot when it’s a newbie or when there is a lack of rain. I also feed about once a month. If you find one, I’ll write out more instructions.
Oh I know there was an art to growing those lovelies. They are the most amazing flowers! Today I got home and there were butterflies I. My yard after my weeds! So I grabbed my camera and my dorky dog ran over to smell them and chased them away! But they came back! I will try to see if any of the photos turners out and post them! They were like little bitty angels flitting around the yard! These were smaller then yours though but wow they are pretty! I pray for more to come!

I have one vine plant and that is Clematis. But they look nothing like this. Obviously butterflies love these flowers.
