Dandelion Wishes

Along our travels, we made a pit stop for food and I walked outside to get some fresh air. I found a field of dandelions gone to fluff and I picked a bouquet.
I spun around and around in my butterfly covered sun dress and let the fluff cover me as I made wishes.
I could feel the magic surround me.
The magic didn’t come from the dandelion fluff, it came from believing in dandelion wishes.
I’ll never forget that moment.
I tucked it in my heart to save for a rainy day…

  1. Stumbled across this today and loved it SO much! I mention Dandelion wishes (along with some other childhood quips about good luck) in my poem ‘Superstition Admonition’ just thought I’d share here in case you might like it: https://auntbaggy.wordpress.com/2018/02/15/baggy-the-bard-2-superstition-admonition/

and if you do, you might also enjoy my poem about eyelash wishes (similar vein – the magic that comes from just believing) https://thebluenib.com/prose-poetry-by-rebecca-myers/?fbclid=IwAR2M8iRpB_4Rp1vcwYdJJw2e700BKR2ABfJMZLZChhm9affr85dh3jN0Bd

I love looking back on these things from younger days with a different perspective. So funny sometimes we don’t even remember these moments til something (like a dandelion) reminds us and takes us back there!!

  2. Wonderfully awesome post. We used to do that as kids, but I never knew that was sending off Dandelion Wishes!! You have imprinted that on my heart, love it!! Thank you, Jeanne!!! Hope you are recovering from your zoombie state and that you are closing as planned?? Hoping you will get unstressed soon!! Jeanne, I cannot tell you how much I love that you let my words meld with yours in our little duet. I read and reread it all the time and am still in awe!! I’m getting very hungry for more, My Dear!! LOL!

    1. Thank you. I liked your dandelion poem too. Still haven’t closed, which is holding up a lot of the work we need to do. It’s coming, just slow. Did all repairs requested by VA Inspector last week, but she’s not coming back till Monday. Been working hard, inside and out. Spring slipping away and I desperately wanted to start a few garden areas, so I’ve been doing that too. Always enjoy being outside and I’m loving the two acres.
Planted my first apple tree today. I’ve planted oranges, avocados and bananas in Florida, but first time for apples. Covered in blossoms so hopefully will get apples this year. So still wiped out, but mixing outside fun with hard work inside.
      Glad you love our poem.❤

            1. Blackberries and raspberries already growing, a huge crab apple tree and a sour cherry tree, plus my new apple tree. Gonna have a field plowed next spring for sunflowers and veggies. Maybe plant some Concord grapes and blueberries. I have wanted to be a hippy-ish farm girl my entire life. Yay! I type ten words a minute!

                  2. Cool! Yes, please! Let’s! Maybe we could use the thought in your comment for the title – In Love With The Land? We could use some of my comments that compare what you get back from the land in comparison to love and other human relations?? How does that sound to You, Dear??

                  4. Oh no?? Weird that your new phone died – not just battery dead? Do you have a warranty plan on it – Apple or Android? I hate having to be with no internet. You have a provider to the house don’t you? Just not hooked up yet? Hope you don’t have to use Satellite internet?

                1. When I write long hand my work never makes it to the computer. I love writing with pen and paper and have a box of writing journals. I do use a free app called Evernote on my phone with speech capability which helps, and it’s always at my fingertips.

                  1. Cool! I will have to check that out! I use the audio recording app on my phone but it’s like your long hand – I haven’t transcribed them to paper or computer. Thanks for adding something else to my To Do List! LOL!! (about 400 recordings). I don’t write in cursive except to sign my name. I print so people can actually read what I have written, otherwise it’s like the line I really love from my poem – I Cannot Write In Cursive – it turns out “like the scribbles of a child”.
I will have to check out Evernote – thanks for that tip, My Dear!!!
Hope you have a good day and can leave in the hard gear and not up shift!!
They say we are going to have a couple more mornings that are cool and that after that none
until September. I’m guessing it doesn’t get too hot in the summers where you are?
I love Autumn and I’m jealous about you living in Vermont!! LOL! Be sare, be happy!!
