New House

20180607_125253
June, 2018
Everything is still a little crazy, but that’s to be expected after a move of this magnitude .
My son, Ricky, drove two hours to see us last night, with his wife and the baby. We went out to dinner and it was so good to see them.
We went for Mexican food at a place called Lopez’s and it was delicious. It was also the first real meal I’ve eaten in a week!
Cable guy is coming today, so then I’ll have internet, thank goodness. I’ve been using fifteen extra dollars worth of data every two days. WOW.
We are dealing with the normal stuff of settling in, trying to find things and then trying to decide where to put them after we find them.
We just saw a man from the water company out front shutting off our water because we hadn’t been down to the water company yet to give them a deposit. He left it on with a threat to get to the office today.
LOL We moved in Wednesday and we already called and gave them our information.
The movers put boxes wherever they wanted, despite them all being labeled, so there are going to be a lot of boxes getting moved around.
They also tried to overcharge us by $400 but my honey said no, thank you.
My back has had more than enough and I’m having a hard time walking in the mornings, so some of those dang boxes are just going to stay where they are for a little bit!
Jerry’s brother is still here until tomorrow…he’s been a huge help.
Hoping to unpack the kitchen today, but I will see where God takes my day…
All the flowers I brought with me are doing fantastic and I’m ready to bring in some more. My honey is going to go buy bleeding hearts and lilacs at Lowe’s.
Backyard is big and shady and beautiful and my porch upstairs is more like a tree house because it’s all windows, and you look out into the tree tops.
My kids keep begging me to make it the guest room, but, I said NO; it is going to be mama’s writing room. Buy your own tree-house. I waited sixty-four years for this tree-house!
Went to buy furniture the other day and the gentleman who waited on my husband decided to make fun of Yankees and to make disparaging comments, so we won’t be buying furniture there.
People are so worried about everyone else being racist, but that doesn’t stop them, does it?
The fine gentleman lost a $2,000 sale.
To end on a positive note, I love my new house, I absolutely love having two of my children and lots of grandchildren close by and I love that my daughter Jodie is ten minutes away from me. She is my Sunshine.
Love that my friend Michelle Marie is less than an hour away because she is my Pinkshine!

  1. JM, have we been here before? I know I just got my Dell back online but I thought it automatically updated itself during that interminable reboot. Anyway, it was good to read this either again or for the first time. Lately I don’t even try to guess. And so wonderful that you are so close to MM. Spoke with her last week or week before. Series of itty bitty strokes so my memory is a little bit cloudy of some things, but at least my speech has returned. Love ya! ❤

      1. I did check out Ambition, but each time I manage to show some I injure myself! That’s not much fun. How long did it take you to get completely moved in, or has that happened yet? Personally, I’m looking around my trashed apartment and thinking it might be easier to move than to clean it. That’s when it all gets really scary because there could be a person hiding behind some of those piles of laundry! And a stack of books that could prove fatal if I should hit against it. My kids are coming to the rescue tomorrow — at least my daughter is. Hopefully at least one son with a truck to haul out the excess furniture that is just taking up space! I wonder why I keep doing that to myself! If I move I can just pack up what I want to keep and leave a fully furnished apartment behind for the next victim, I mean person. Have a great weekend, JM. Love you. ❤

        1. I know the feeling. I have way too much stuff. Who’d think that would be a problem.? When it bugs me too much, I watch Hoarders and then I feel better about my house!
We are all moved in but still about 20 boxes packed. If I don’t miss anything in a year I think I’ll donate them to the Salvation Army!
Hope you have a great weekend too, JM

          1. Today I sent the contents of several boxes I haven’t opened in a couple of years to Goodwill. My kids all showed up to help me move my futon chair to the bedroom and lighten the load in the living room, so out went anything that hasn’t seen the light of day since I moved to this apartment over 3 years ago, at which time several loads of stuff went out after I just got tired of moving. I really didn’t miss much of it, and since I have no idea what was in those boxes today I doubt I’ll miss it either. The only problem could possibly come if I need something I rarely use tomorrow, remember I bought it at one time, and be unable to find it now because it was in one of those boxes. Some of the stuff just went down to the dumpster and my son told me the dumpster divers were out in force. I hope none of them were injured or caught, either way! I’ve had a power nap in my very quiet bedroom, at least 5 minutes, and am wondering if I’ll be able to sleep without some kind of noise. I can see myself having to move the soundstrip and the Kindle in there to stream some music around tonight. Fortunately I have some made just for sleeping, so hopefully this will do the job.

            Love you lots, JM. ❤

              1. IT NEVER FAILS THAT WITHIN A FEW DAYS I’LL MISS SOMETHING. TODAY IT WAS THE RIBBON THAT WAS RIED TO MY DOORKNOB SO I CAN PULL THE DOOR OPEN WHEN DRIVING MY CHAIR OUT. THEN I REMEMBERED GINA ASKING ME IF I NEEDED A LENGTH OF RIBBON SHE WAS HOLDING. IT JUST NEVER OCCURRED TO ME THAT IT WAS THE ONE I NEED TO GET THRU MY DOOR! SOUNDS MUNDANE BUT SO NECESSARY IF I HAVE TO GET THRU IT. IT’S THE SILLY LITTLE THINGS THAT GET YOU EVERY TIME.<3

                1. Yes, it is the little things! I’ve been on a roller coaster this month. With Michelle Marie’s awesome editorial skills, plus my refusal to be distracted, we got my book, “Women Who Think Too Much” ready for print, and that’s been a high point.
Carried me through as I ended a 38 year marriage, (again) had two loved ones attempt suicide, my baby sister was mad at me for moving away from her and Lord knows what else happened.
I’ve been strong, somewhat sad of course, but basically happy to be free of the turmoil in our house and then today, I couldn’t put a bed together and I broke down and cried for two hours.
                  It is the little things!

                  1. I sure hope it gets better soon, JM! 😇💟 I’m so excited and happy to hear about your book! I saw something about it somewhere but can’t for the life of me remember when or where! And we are still walking on eggshells since my grandson attempted suicide by cop several months ago! Please keep this one private and off Facebook! He still has a long way to go before recovery, and with his grandfather dying as we speak and the memories of his older brothers successful suicide three years ago he doesn’t need anything else to toss him back to the edge! My poor son and daughter-in-law have had some really rough years lately!😕😅 😝 😭.

I’m so sorry to hear about your marriage breakup. Sure have been there and done that! Also shed so many tears 😢I felt dried up inside, but then we will get up, dry up and just go on living because that’s what we do! 😇 We are built that way and the world would end if we ever change ! 😇💔💙💖💗💝
