My Menagerie

Inside me you will find

Many animals housed

Each one I had been once

Though I changed from one to another

For old times’ sake

I let them reside in me

The timid mouse scuttled to a corner

When the tigeress in me roared

The lone wolf rears its head

When the gregarious company

Of budgerigars becomes too much

The fork tongued asp has been put to ssleep

Its duplicity had vitiated my life

The barn owl in me

Can’t think of another mate

And like a mother hen

I cluck around my brood

I am all of these a

And some more

When one is awake

Often the others hibernate.
